My stag failed its MOT because the wipers wouldn't work.

So I checked the fuse and it was ok. I cleaned the fuse and the contacts for the fuse. Bingo they worked next day they wouldn't work so did as before on they came. I am due to go back to garage tomorrow so checked them again. Guess what not working did as before and now working.
Any ideas what might be wrong
